Sir Brandt

Sir Brandt is a nobleman and retired general who is seeking election to the council of Ashbane. He was the intended target of whoever employed the Fithling Scientist to design a weapon to kill him. Brandt's brother was on the train that the protagonist and his sister was on, and one of the men who was killed on board. He was almost killed by the assassin during his speech, but Vic'eren took the shot for him, resulting in a promotion for Vic'eren and Brandt winning the election.
